My role at Oegema.

At Oegema I work on the platform, self-hosted AI, data and BI, and the internal tooling around them.

I still build and run some of it myself. For the rest, I work with the teams that use it every day.

I joined Oegema in September 2023 to work on Kubernetes and DevOps. In September 2025 the role broadened into Lead IT, Strategy & Innovation.

The default is self-hosted, on-prem, and in-house. We use external platforms where they add clear value.

The work spans several environments and teams. Platforms, tooling, and working methods all have to hold up in daily operations.

What I do.

My work covers platforms, data and BI, self-hosted AI, experiments, adoption, and the boundaries around daily use.

Technical estate

I build and maintain multiple Kubernetes/RKE2 clusters. Together with the team, we migrated from a proprietary virtualisation and storage stack to open-source Proxmox + Ceph and brought Trino, Metabase, and multi-node PostgreSQL with a delayed replica into daily use as shared data and BI building blocks.

AI platform and digital sovereignty

We keep AI services and assistants close to our own estate: self-hosted open-source services and local runtimes, with external platforms where they add practical value.

Now in use

We now run several self-hosted, on-prem RKE2 clusters across separate environments. We also migrated the virtualisation and storage layer to Proxmox + Ceph. Trino and Metabase moved from PoC into shared reporting and BI use. We introduced internal AI access with appropriate access controls.

Teams and follow-through

I run retrospectives across IT, help the development teams maintain a workable rhythm, and stay involved so migrations, tooling, and new working methods are picked up after rollout.
