Lead IT, Strategy & Innovation at Oegema.

In the role I work across platform, self-hosted AI, data and BI, internal tooling, experiments, adoption, and team cadence, and on the choices that make all of that workable in practice. Alongside that, I still build and run core systems myself.

I joined Oegema in September 2023 to work on Kubernetes and DevOps. In September 2025 the role broadened into Lead IT, Strategy & Innovation.

Default is self-hosted, on-prem, and in-house. External platforms only stay in the stack where they clearly add something.

The work spans multiple environments and teams, and the kind of platform, tooling, and adoption choices that have to hold up in daily operations.

The role combines the technical estate, self-hosted AI, experimentation, adoption, and the team work needed to make change stick.

Technical estate

I build and maintain multiple Kubernetes/RKE2 clusters. Together with the team, we migrated from a proprietary virtualisation and storage stack to open-source Proxmox + Ceph and brought Trino, Metabase, and multi-node PostgreSQL with a delayed replica into daily use as shared data and BI building blocks.

Digital sovereignty and AI platform

We keep AI services and assistants as close to the estate as practical: self-hosted open-source AI services and local runtimes, with external platforms only where they clearly add practical value to the operation.

What has landed

We now run several self-hosted, on-prem RKE2 clusters across separate environments. We also migrated the virtualisation and storage layer to Proxmox + Ceph. Trino and Metabase moved from PoC into shared reporting and BI use. We introduced internal AI access with appropriate access controls.

People, cadence, and shared responsibility

I run retrospectives across IT, help the development teams keep a workable agile cadence, and work closely with the team so migrations, tooling, and new workflows do not stall after the first rollout.
